He may be 8-months-old, but Prince George is already tending to his royal responsibilities.
The third in line to the British throne joined his parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton, for Plunkett's Parents Group playdate at Government House in Wellington, New Zealand, Wednesday.
They met with 10 other families, all with children born around the same time as Prince George. The families were selected to represent the "spread of all communities in New Zealand, including Maoris, Samoans, people of Chines descent and gay couples," Plunket president Tristine Clarke told reporters.
The baby of the hour looked precious in a pair of $129 Rachel Riley sailboat dungarees, while his mom selected a $450 black and white geometric print dress from Tory Burch's Resort 2014 collection.
At one point, the Duchess of Cambridge held her son's hands so he could try standing. "It's madness," her 31-year-old husband remarked, according to press reports. "There are babies everywhere!"
Middleton, 32, revealed that Prince George has been sleeping well through the night and was eating solid foods. The royal couple also told the other parents that their little boy has four or five teeth coming through, and Prince William said that he usually gives his son his night-time bottle to help out.
Grant Collinge, whose family attended the event, said Prince George is his "own little man." How so? "He sort of took control went into the middle of the circle, hunted out the biggest toy, propped himself up, and he owned the place basically," said Grant, father to son Lucas with his partner, Magda Collinge.
"He's bubbly, a little bit feisty too but a very friendly baby," Grant told local TV program One News.
According to another onlooker, Prince George was "quite a bruiser" while playing in the Blandor Room.
"I've had a few jealous looks from other parents when they found out we were meeting the Duke and Duchess," attendee Kate Bainbridge told reporters prior to the event. "Even though we come from a very different background we have got a lot in common with the Duke and Duchess because we've been through the sleepless nights and we can talk to them about our experiences. We are all first-time parents, like them, so it should be quite easy to chat to them."
At the end of the playdate, Prince George was given a big blue teddy bear as a reminder of his visit.
