Mick Jagger is speaking out about the sad death of his girlfriend L'Wren Scott.

One day after the 49-year-old fashion designer was found dead in her NYC apartment after committing suicide, the 70-year-old Rolling Stones rocker has made a touching and mournful statement regarding the tragedy.

"I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way," Jagger posted on his Facebook page with a gorgeous photo of his late partner. "We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves."

"She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me," he continued. "I have been touched by the tributes that people have paid to her, and also the personal messages of support that I have received. I will never forget her, Mick."

Jagger's statement comes just hours after news broke that the Rolling Stones canceled the first date of their Australian tour this week. The band is slated to perform in Sydney, Melbourne and Macedon later this month.

Scott was found dead in her New York City apartment Monday morning. Upon hearing the sad news, Jagger's rep told E! News the singer was "completely shocked and devastated" by Scott's apparent suicide.

Jagger and Scott were together for 13 years prior to her death.
