Today is a good day for Amber Portwood.

The Teen Mom star has been serving a five-year sentence as a result of her arrest on drug possession charges in December of 2011.

The Chief Communications Officer for the Indiana Department of Correction, confirmed to E! News that Portwood was released at 11 a.m. local time Monday morning.

The former reality star has completed the sentence that she was given by court.

The 23-year-old was seen leaving the facility and appeared thrilled to reunite with her family and close friends.

So was the single mother released early? Not entirely.

While she did only spend less than two years behind bars, Indiana allows a defendant to earn "good time credit" for every day that the inmate participates in programs and exhibits good behavior.

According to the jail's spokesperson, Portwood participated in a substance abuse program and earned credits for her good behavior during her incarceration.

In late March of last year, Portwood opted to serve out her five-year jail term rather than comply with the terms of her court-ordered drug program.

Amber was placed back behind bars earlier that month for failing to appear in an Indiana court as part of the terms of her probation.

Her brother Shawn tweeted over the weekend that he would be heading to his home state to "see my sis when she gets released."
