The Delta Zeta chapter of the University of Connecticut, shown in a screen grab from WFSB-TB, was placed on interim suspension on April 4, 2016, following allegations of hazing. The school is located in Storrs, Conn.

A sorority chapter at the University of Connecticut has been suspended while officials investigate reports of hazing, including women forcing men to wear female thong underwear, paint their bodies and take alcohol shots off each other's bodies, according to local media reports.

UConn's associate director of community standards sent a letter last week placing the Deltz Zeta sorority under an interim suspension "until this student conduct matter is resolved," The Hartford Courantreports onThursday.

The suspension was ordered following a state police probe of the alleged incidents, Hartford's WFSB-TV reports.

According to the letter from Kimberly Hill, members of Delta Zeta are also accused of forcing a group of men involved with a school fraternity to consume alcohol and eat dog treats, among other things, the newspaper reports.

In the letter, Hill explained to the sorority that a suspension "indicates that the presence of your organization on campus could pose a threat to the health and safety of the campus community."

The incidents allegedly took place at the Mansfield Apartments, a university residence hall, on March 7.

The Delta Zeta national and UConn chapters did not immediately return messages seeking comment Thursday, the Associated Press reports.

It is the third Greek life organization to be suspended in the past two months, according to WFSB.

In March, Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity were issued the same suspension order over an allegation of hazing by members of both organizations.

In that case, a female sophomore allegedly was forced to drink alcohol at an SAE event until she passed out. She claimed she woke up in a hospital.

The latest incident comes as UConn was catapulted into the headlines this week for winning both the men's and women's NCAA national basketball championships.

The university is located in Storrs, Conn.
