Her "midlife crisis" bangs might not have worked out, but Michelle Obama isn't done testing out new hairstyles.

Nine months after she got fringe, the first lady debuted caramel colored highlights. The lighter strands are throughout her tresses but mainly in face-framing sections, giving her a much brighter look overall.

We're betting the new hue might last longer than her bangs, since they shouldn't bother her while she's preforming her White House duties. Early this month Lady O joked to Parade magazine: "You know, it's hard to make speeches with hair in your face!"

While she didn't make any such speeches today, FLOTUS did opt to pull back her strands while accompanying her husband to the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech in Washington, D.C.

And even without her lighter hair visible, she was still a bright spot on a rainy day in a navy Tracy Reese dress with bright red floral print.
