Kelly Clarkson has made it very, very clear that she wants to be a mother. And on the Monday, Nov. 11 episode of The Tonight Show, the newlywed told host Jay Leno that she and husband Brandon Blackstock have been actively trying to get pregnant. "Practice makes perfect!" the singer exclaimed.

Leno then boldly asked the musician, "Are you pregnant right now?" Clarkson, 31, burst out laughing and replied,  "What are you saying?"

"I always get this stars that come and go, ‘I'm thinking about having a baby,' and then the next week they go on Ellen and announce it there," Leno explained. "So, I'm asking you, are you pregnant? Remember, you are under oath!"

Clarkson got coy and said, "We are not announcing anything right now. We're not, no!" The original American Idol winner did say, however, that she and Blackstock are having sex "like rabbits."

Blackstock has two children—and Savannah, 11, and Seth, 7—from a previous marriage. "They're so great," Clarkson raved. "I never wanted kids before, but now I want, like, five."

Clarkson also revealed why she and Blackstock downsized their October wedding at Blackberry Farm in Walland, Tenn. "We were gonna do the big thing. You can ask everybody I grew up with, I've never been the girl that wanted a big wedding. We kind of just started doing it for other people," she recalled. "And then I was like, ‘You know what? My whole career, I do a lot of stuff for other people.' I'm like, ‘This should be my day.' And he's already been married once before, so I got to pick everything."

Because she's married to her manager's son, Clarkson says their dynamic can be "awkward at times, but it's okay." There are perks to being so close, she added. "I was like, I get the family discount now, right?"
